The Lotus Park occupies an abandoned quarry a few steps from the historic center with a pond where the beautiful Asian flower grew; the pond is surrounded by willow groves, flowery meadows and reeds where the bittern nests; unfortunately due to poor maintenance it has recently lost much of its charm

Solarolo is a town that boasts an ancient history as evidenced by the archaeological site of via Orviere with the remains of a Bronze Age village. The fourteenth-century historical centre, was almost totally destroyed during the Second World War. A good part of the Manfredian walls, a few private houses and some structures of the Molino (active in 1397) remain of the ancient town. The Maschio della Rocca and the walls of the Castle with the mighty Porta testify to its strategic position which saw it at the center of the struggles between Bologna, Faenza and the Papal States.
