Tabor Castle, built in 1469 and given a baroque makeover in the 17th century, served various purposes, including as a refuge during the religious wars and later as a residence for estate employees. After extensive restorations in 2002-2003 and a change of ownership in 2019, it is now owned by the state of Burgenland and is used as an event venue and for a Heurigen restaurant.

One of the most beautiful and romantic places in southern Burgenland is Tabor Castle in Neuhaus am Klausenbach. It is located in the rolling hills of the trilateral Raab-Örség-Goricko Nature Park, in the Austria-Hungary-Slovenia border triangle, and is one of the oldest buildings in the Jennersdorf district. The building type goes back to Hussite fortifications in the Czech town of Tábor. The later Tabor Castle was first mentioned in 1469. In the course of his feud against Emperor Friedrich III. the aristocratic mercenary leader Ulrich Pesnitzer had a temporary fortification built, but it was not permanent. The castle in its present form was created in the 17th century, when the powerful Hungarian noble Batthyány family came into the possession of the Neuhaus manor. Under them, Tabor became the seat of the manorial estate administration, while the family mostly stayed in Vienna or on their other estates. At the end of the Second World War, the castle was briefly used by Soviet troops as a tank workshop before it was finally converted into a purely residential area. Tabor remained in Batthyány family ownership until 1992. After it was taken over by the Raab Nature Park, the castle was expanded into an opera venue under the direction of JOPERA jennersdorf and is now used for cultural events all year round. From 2017 the castle was owned by the non-profit EFIS Foundation and since 2019 it has been owned by the state of Burgenland. Various events such as Advent at Tabor Castle, the children's and youth projects and the historical exhibition are still being continued by the association KulturRaum Schloss Tabor (formerly JOPERA jennersdorf). The opera/operetta performances, which take place every year in August, were taken over by KBB – Kultur-Betriebe Burgenland GmbH in 2020 with the JOPERA brand.

The ruins of Klöch Castle stand defiantly above the town on a basalt hill. Today the residential tower and part of the shield wall of the castle are still standing. Not only can you explore the ruins on your own at the top, the view of Klöch is also terrific. The viewing platform can be found at the top of the residential tower.
