The history of the Czartoryski Mound is that after the fall of the November Uprising in 1831, Prince Adam Czartoryski visited the Holy Cross here on his way to exile; he also gave a political speech. His officers carved in the ground with sabres: From this height we raise our prayers to God for our perishing Fatherland. The Mound is in memory of these events.
