• The first station (1859): The first Lucerne station was built of wood as the terminus of the Schweizerische Centralbahngesellschaft directly on the lake. The tracks at the time ran along today's Pilatusstrasse. • The second station (1896): Due to growing traffic and the planning of the Gotthard line, a monumental new building was constructed with an impressive glass dome and, from 1907, with the copper figure „Zeitgeist“ by Richard Kissling. • The third station (1991): After a devastating major fire in 1971, in which the old dome and large parts of the building were destroyed, the station was completely rebuilt. Today's Lucerne station was inaugurated on February 5, 1991 – exactly 20 years after the fire.

The harbor of Cham offers a great view not only of Lake Zug, but also of the surrounding mountains, such as Rigi and Zugerberg. There are various seating options (benches, wooden loungers, directly on the meadow, etc.), as well as enough space to stop with bikes and enjoy the great view. In summer, the kiosk-restaurant "Hirsgartenbad" is open.
