Seekirch-Achwiesen - a pile dwelling in the moor The moor settlement discovered in 1989 below Seekirch is located on a sand spit that extends into the Federsee on the eastern shore. The settlement remains lying between the piles directly on the soft lake sediments show that the house floors were raised from the building ground: real pile dwellings in the sense of a settlement built over the open water! This makes Seekirch-Achwiesen an exception among the Neolithic moor settlements of the Federseeried, both topographically and architecturally. Source: Information board at the site
