Tips from the Community

Eckart Schlenker
August 2, 2026, Kuhlake and Kreuzgraben Ponds in Spandauer Forst

From kilometer 21 (Karpfenteich/Kreuztränke) near the lakes, it is better to detour onto the Schönwalder Allee. Furthermore, the route is not passable and numerous trees have to be climbed over and carried. Less fun with a 25 kg e-bike and probably not manageable for older people. On the other hand, it was also exciting 😊

Really a beautiful and mostly quite relaxed path to ride. The crossing of Bernauer Straße is now really safe and convenient thanks to the underpass. Currently (as of 17.07.2026) two CONSTRUCTION SITES: 1. Bank path (!) between the AFC Berlin Adler sports field and Plötzensee is closed; 2. Underpass of the General-Ganeval-Brücke (access to the former Tegel Airport / TXL) is closed - approx. 1.2km long signposted detour, partly (several 100m at the dog school) gravel chips!

The Borsig Villa Reiherwerder. A striking symbol of Germany's industrial history. ❗️ In 2000, it was decided that the Federal Foreign Office would use the Reiherwerder estate as the Foreign Service Academy and the large Borsig Villa as the guesthouse of the Federal Foreign Minister. 💡 Open House ❗️ 💁On only one day a year can you immerse yourself in history and take a look behind the scenes; otherwise, the grounds are not open to visitors.

The route directly along the water is impassable after the storms. I sometimes carried my bike, sometimes the other way around. 🙃
