This is a great lookout point for Wedge Brook Cascades, one of several falls in the area off of the West River Trail. They can also be accessed moving east along the Wedge Brook Trail.

Mount Colvin offers a stunning perspective of Mt. Marcy and the Great Range when you reach its summit. There's a moderately long (mostly flat) hike from the Ausable Club to the head of Lower Ausable Lake before you begin your ascent to the summit.

The Elevator Shaft Trail ends at this junction, merging into either Blake Trail or Colvin Trail.

You're standing right next to the waterfall - the little detour is definitely worth it! However, the path back on this side of the river was very little used and heavily populated by mosquitoes, so the other side (via the gravel road) is more recommended.

The real highlight of the tour. You can get to the front stone via the left edge of the upper stone and through some bushes - here the view (and the photos) are even more impressive.

Summit is marked by a rock with Blake scrawled in. One of the tougher 46 peaks, fun if you love scrambling up and down steep rock slabs. No views at summit but nice views on the way over from Colvin.
