Mostly it's gently downhill (from Ilmenau to Weimar). There's only one steep climb, with a 13% gradient over a 300-meter stretch. Almost all of it is paved. With a bit of a tailwind, the progress is brisk. The Ilm Cycle Path is also easy to manage with children.
