Right across from the Cypress Cemetery, a historic spot in its own right, is the original location of Yale College. There is a large stone with a plaque and an informational sign marking the spot.

River Road, along with a few of the other paved roads and bridges in the area, offers views of the Connecticut River. There are a bunch of neighborhoods on the south side of the river that make for great road riding.

The views on both side of the road are fantastic as you cross the bridge. You can see up the river to the beautiful deciduous tree lined banks on one side, and the wider more expansive river on the other.

Griswold Preserve is a beautiful wetland with plenty of wildlife to see. There aren't any roads running through it so you'll have to step off the bike to take a closer look. Perfect for a mid ride break.

Running along Hammonasset River, this good quality road has fantastic views of the boulder strewn river surrounded by gnarly old trees. A fantastic stretch of road to cycle on.

Falls River feeds Ivoryton Pond which has a small dam at the eastern end. Water from here flows into the much larger Mill Pond a little further east on Main Street. You can access the banks of the pond from the western end, just over the bridge. The rest of the pond is mostly surrounded by trees, which help to make this an inviting pond for local wildlife.
