The view across the field takes in the Great Inland Lake. The lake, which is a maximum of 3 meters deep, is a freshwater lake fed by smaller tributaries such as the Kossau. Its shores are untouched, making it unsuitable for swimming or motorboating, but a paradise for nature lovers, walkers, and birdwatchers.

Port Closure The port's approach buoy was removed by the authorities without replacement, permanently ending sea access. The decision to close came as a surprise to many, especially since the port had previously been classified as an emergency port and the state of Schleswig-Holstein had covered the costs of the necessary dredging. There are currently no plans to reopen or renovate the port. The owner has not yet commented on future uses of the site. For water sports enthusiasts who have previously used the Lippe harbor, the Wendtorf Marina offers an alternative location.

A warm hello to everyone! For over 100 years, the Hohwacht & Lippe Fishing Association has represented the interests of local fishermen and their families. It is the professional and part-time representative of fishermen in Hohwacht and Lippe. In keeping with the association's original purpose, it serves the fishermen in its area and promotes camaraderie. Fishing as an economic factor has been declining for years. The fishing association therefore preserves traditions and memories of the times when fishing in Hohwacht was a central source of family income and social cohesion in the community. With events held around the fishing huts in Alt-Hohwacht, we remain committed to tradition, our members, guests, and the community. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and active participation in our events. We invite all our guests and friends of Hohwacht to support our cause by becoming a member of the association. Simply apply for your membership online here for an annual fee of €10.

The port of Lippe in Hohwacht Bay will be closed for the 2025 season. Massive damage caused by shipworm infestation requires significant investments, which the operator is no longer willing to make.

So, what was already being circulated verbally is now official as of today: The Port of Lippe will be permanently closed for the 2025 season. We've all received notice of termination. The quay wall and the Mohlenkopf are in such dire need of repair that repair and continued operation are not economically viable.
