Over 30,000 German soldiers who fell in the Apennine region in the final phase of World War II are buried at this war memorial. It is very impressive and makes one pause and hope that something like this will never happen again.

It's hard to get to the Via degli Dei by bike because of the very bumpy paths.

Arriving by bike to San Luca is suggestive and beautiful

Our route was inspired by the official website of the Via degli Dei, from which we downloaded the track and adapted it according to our stages and the places to visit and it is 124 km long to be done in 2-3 days using our ebikes. The itinerary of the sanctuary of San Luca is not included in the Via degli Dei but we made a detour because it is worth seeing for those who have never seen it. Be careful though, the climb is very steep and sudden and if you start from the center of Bologna, doing it cold can be really tiring and this has repercussions on the entire tour. We left on May 24 very early from the small station of Rubiera with the 06.50 train loading the bikes and arrived at Bologna central at 07.30 and returned on Sunday May 25 leaving from the station of Florence Santa Maria Novella at 18.37 to Prato. Changed the train for Bologna at 19.13 and changed again for Rubiera at 20.50. Despite the low season, the train was full of bicycles, especially leaving from Florence, so pay attention to the flows but it is recommended (for those who can take a day off) to leave very early on Monday morning from Florence to find a place in the bicycle parking spaces which are very few. Our only stop was to stay at the Futa campsite, very nice and welcoming. Since it was low season, we opted for an apartment that has 4 beds plus a sofa bed. We had a large breakfast at the bar and for dinner we stayed in the restaurant where they served us an excellent pizza and an appetizer. We were on bicycles and were very tired but a few kilometers away there are restaurants and farmhouses. Cost of the stay per person including breakfast €35.

Supposed to be an organ for wind blowing through. Did not work when I was there despite heavy winds...

Open accessible in the back with a table inside, but very cozy if you would need to hide from a storm.
