The Dalum-Wietmarscher Moor is a nature reserve covering approximately 1,580 hectares, located northwest of Lingen. The raised bog has been protected since 2008, although industrial peat extraction continued for a while. Peat extraction has now finally ceased, and the restoration measures are beginning to bear fruit: the rewetted moorland is regularly visited by numerous meadow and wading birds, which you can observe here.
