The lakes around Pinnow must be filled via wells to compensate for the losses.

The water supplied does not even compensate for the loss. The lake is missing up to 2.5 meters (in the last 20 years). It's not entirely clear why so much water is disappearing even though open pit mining will be the main cause. I'm also betting on the climate changes (less rain).

There was a first church in Pinnow as early as 1604. Today's church was built between 1909 and 1910 as a brick hall on a field stone base. In 1943 the church was threatened with demolition because the village of Pinnow was to be relocated for the establishment of the Kurmark SS military training area. Due to the end of the war, it did not happen again.

This artificial water inlet is intended to counteract the falling water level in the lake. Many lakes in the area have sinking water levels. It could be related to the coal mine, but it doesn't have to be.
