It's particularly beautiful here in April, when the Adonis flowers are in bloom. However, the walk is also worthwhile at other times.

The themed trail is worthwhile and offers a wealth of information about the Pheasant's Eye. However, some of the information panels need to be renovated. You can also read more about the Pontic slopes here: https://data-naturerbe.nabu.de/schutzgebietssteckbriefe/Pontische_Haenge_von_Lebus.pdf

The simple memorial stone and a commemorative plaque at the deployment site of the Nazi Volkssturm Battalion 7/108 Franconia north of Frankfurt/Oder commemorate one of the most senseless combat missions on the Oder and the Seelow Heights. In February 1945, 550 men from western Middle Franconia were sent from Ansbach in freight cars to what is now the border with Poland. Most were already over 60 years old, poorly trained, and extremely inadequately equipped. They were virtually burned here in the final weeks of the war in a hopeless battle against the superior Russian forces, which were already advancing toward Berlin. Approximately 150 of them did not survive the deployment, returning home on April 11, 1945, to continue fighting against the Americans near Nuremberg.
