The port city is located on Norway's west coast. Ålesund is notable for its Art Nouveau architecture. After a major fire in 1904, it was almost completely rebuilt, using this distinctive architectural style. This makes the city one of the most attractive in the country. Ålesund stretches across several islands connected by bridges and tunnels. This creates impressive views of the sea and the surrounding mountains. The viewpoint on the local mountain, Aksla, is famous – from here you can enjoy a magnificent view of the city and the harbor, as well as the Sunnmøre Alps in the distance. Fiskergutten is a sculpture in the Norwegian city of Ålesund. It was created in 1967 by the sculptor Knut Skinnarland and is intended to symbolize youthful expectations of the future. Fiskergutten, meaning "fisherman's boy" in English, stands on the Apotekertorget square in the city center, directly on the shore of the Ålesundet. To the west is the Svaneapoteket, used as an Art Nouveau center. While today the name "fisherman's boy" is common, Skinnarland originally used a name meaning "greenhorn" to express youthful zeal and expectations of the future.[1] A copy of the sculpture is located in Akureyri, Iceland, one of Ålesund's twin cities. In the immediate vicinity is the sculpture Sildekona, reminiscent of the herring women. [Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiskergutten ]

The lights are still on in the tower, but the rest of the building has been given a completely different use, namely as a hotel room. The Brosundet Hotel, a five-minute walk away, rents the lighthouse from the Coastal Administration and uses it as a special hotel room. Creative architects and builders have created an elegant and fully equipped bathroom on the first floor of the tower, with a diameter of just three meters. On the second floor, they have installed a custom-made bed that takes up half the space. If desired, guests can have breakfast delivered to their door in the morning. A stay in Room 47 at the Brosundet Hotel is very popular with both newlyweds and other guests. The red-painted lighthouse on the breakwater is also of great importance to the people of Ålesund, as it has been declared the municipality's millennium monument. The lighthouse is locally called "Molja". "Molje" is the Scandinavian word for breakwater. Text: Per Roger Lauritzen, 2019. [ Source: https://fyr.no/fyr/alesund-fyrstasjon/ ]
