Very nice, quiet connecting path to Monhardt - also suitable for escaping the Nagoldtal cycle path along the country road and getting to Altensteig, provided you don't mind a few meters of elevation. The gradients are limited, however, and are worth it!

The first narrow-gauge railway of the Royal Württemberg State Railways ran between Nagold and Altensteig from 1891 to 1967. From the very beginning, the railway connection was of great importance for the transport of wood from the Black Forest and the local tannery. When demand for freight and passenger transport decreased after the war, the line was ultimately closed and dismantled. The lack of a connection to the Stuttgart area, where the major industrial employers are still located today, played a not insignificant role in the loss of importance. In the meantime, the Esslingen machine factory had repeatedly used it as a test track for testing narrow-gauge vehicles for export. The current cycle path along the federal highway and the former station buildings still remind us of the once 15km long railway line. Further parts of the railway can be found in Altensteig (https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/7305412) and Nagold (https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/1615114).
