On my cycling holidays, I also include visits with guided tours, unfortunately today there were none at the castle. Information at https://www.gaestefuehrer-unterschwaningen.de/. The present baroque castle was built from 1603 to 1620 under Johann Philipp Fuchs von Bimbach by the master builder Blasius Berwart d. J. Unterschwaningen experienced a special period of bloom under the Ansbach Margravines Christiane Charlotte von Württemberg (1694 - 1729) and her daughter-in-law Friederike Luise von Preußen (1714-1784), who equipped the castle with magnificent Rococo decoration and had the impressive Trinity Church built. The church, built from 1738 to 1743 by castle master builder Leopoldo Retti, is one of the most important baroque sacred buildings in the region and is visible from afar on the highest point of the town.

The palace chapel dedicated to Saint Wolfgang was built in 1490 by Johann von Leonrod. Next to the tower, a depiction of Christ and the year 1497 commemorate the construction. Next to it is the coat of arms of Baron von Süsskind, who had the nave and the tower modified in a neo-Gothic style in 1868. Inside, the chapel was painted with Gothic tracery and stencil painting + completely renovated in the years 1994 to 2002 with the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments. In terms of location, Lichtenau is the "Nuremberg thorn in the side of the Margraves." Yes, the Margraves of Ansbach didn't like that 😜! A knight's tournament takes place here every year.... https://www.mittelalterfest.net/index.php?id=228&L=0
