This is a lovely place to take a walk and look at the wildlife. The walk is accessible around the dam. However the trails above it are great for the more adventuress. The Dam Inn has some very nice staff and the food is very nice too

UK's tallest tower although without anything nearby it's hard to get a sense of scale. There's a layby with bins and views over the surrounding countryside.

There is no cycling around the water. There is a fabulous steep hill down to the dam. Take care hehe

Cold Hiendley Reservoir was constructed at the beginning of the 20th century to supply water to the growing city of Wakefield. The dam had to be strengthened in 1990. This is a popular fishing reservoir with large carp. There is a nice trail around the edge and the Trans Pennine Trail follows the Barnsley Canal path past the dam.
