This pleasant loop covers 3.3 miles (5.3 km) with a modest elevation gain of 368 feet (112 metres), making it suitable for most fitness levels. You can expect to complete the journey in about 1 hour and 30 minutes, enjoying woodland scenery and natural paths, though some riverbanks near the falls feature stone steps.

As you explore, look for the impressive Achness Falls, which feature an upper 6-meter drop and a lower 12-meter drop, transforming into a torrent during high water. These falls are a temporary barrier for Atlantic salmon migrating upstream. The route also passes a historic chapel and an old graveyard, adding a touch of history to the natural beauty. The cafe reopened in 2024, the outside seating area is great, made from old whiskey barrel staves but the outside serving area is not always open. There is now a parking fee, so bear that in mind if you are planning to start your ride from the falls.
