A Romanesque church dedicated to St. Vitus was built in the 12th/13th century. The current choir and the tower, at their current height, date to the second half of the 15th century. Around 1725, the nave was remodeled and the church dedicated to St. Lawrence. In the second half of the 18th century, the church was remodeled in the Rococo style. The nave was extended westward in 1934. (Wikipedia)

The original Church of St. John the Baptist was probably the baptismal church of an original parish, as its name suggests. Parts of the tower base date back to the 13th century. Remains of an even earlier building are unknown. In 1747, the church was remodeled in the Baroque style. However, when the nave collapsed at the end of the 19th century, a large portion of the frescoes and stucco decorations were destroyed. From 1953 to 1955, the nave was completely rebuilt. The choir was spared from the nave's collapse.

Although it's actually more of a visual highlight, thanks to the sculpture on it.

According to an old tradition, its origin goes back to a citizen of Friedberg who made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land between 1300 and 1350. On his way back, he was taken prisoner by the Turks and vowed to build a chapel modeled after the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem upon his return. Thanks to his fortunate return, he was able to fulfill this promise. The present pilgrimage church was built in 1731. It impresses with its three-aisled architecture and the magnificent choir rotunda. The interior with its seven domes is particularly fascinating, appearing surprisingly light and spacious. The baroque ornamentation and the delicate stucco work in the best rococo style give the church an elegant atmosphere. In addition to the pilgrimage church, you will also find a Lourdes grotto and a Dreikönigskapelle (Three Kings Chapel) – perfect places to let your soul relax and let the history sink in.

Today the castle pond was still completely covered with ice. The sculpture looks as if it slipped on the ice
