The present church, constructed of basalt stones and sandstone cornerstones, was built between 1890 and 1892. It stands on the site of a much smaller predecessor, from which a special relic is said to have survived: the Boniface Stone dating from 750. In front of the church is the beautifully landscaped square under the linden tree with the old village fountain and various seating areas.

Here is the refuge "Schellbachslücke". A small but fine hut. Very tidy. Two benches are located in the immediate vicinity and offer you a fabulous view of the beautiful Knüll and to Welchrod.
