The small Protestant Lutheran church in Mollenfelde was open and contains a rich interior, including galleries and a pulpit altar. The tower is significantly older than the nave.

It should be marked as a black area on all maps, as entering or even cycling there is strictly prohibited. It's a real shame, because the farm is worth seeing. But as it is, it's completely uninteresting to outsiders.

Keeping the memory alive. The memorial was created in 1955 by Fritz Theilmann, who himself had been to the Friedland reception camp as a war veteran.

A very fascinating museum centered around the Friedland border transit camp. It focuses specifically on its origins after World War II and the large numbers of war refugees, displaced persons, and those returning from captivity. The very modern and, above all, highly media-oriented exhibition is guided by an audio guide. This is provided free of charge. This allows you to watch some videos without disturbing others. You should plan about 2.5 hours for a visit if you take in every piece. There is plenty of seating, including portable stools. A guided tour of the refugee camp also takes place at 2 p.m. An extension is currently being built, located directly next to the camp. It will focus primarily on current refugee movements.

After the end of World War II, the Friedland refugee camp was quickly built. Its core is based on a farm used for experimental purposes by the University of Göttingen. Initially, Nissen huts were built to house the refugees. One of these can be seen today as a reconstruction in the central square. It is officially part of the Friedland Museum, but can be entered without screening. The camp grounds also include the camp chapel, the Peace Bell, and many modern accommodations for today's refugees. The camp still fulfills the function it had back then: the registration and temporary accommodation of asylum seekers. Back then, these were still prisoners of war and displaced persons. By the end of 1945 alone, well over 500,000 people had been registered. Despite its function, the site may be entered without any restrictions. QR codes are available on site for more detailed information.
