This traditional folk construction method is the architectural specialty of the border triangle of Saxony-Bohemia-Poland. It ingeniously combines three construction methods: log construction (for the warm living room on the ground floor), timber-frame construction (for the upper floor), and solid construction (for the utility and stable area).

These bunkers were built between 1936 and 1938. Czechoslovakia at the time felt massively threatened by Nazi Germany and built a huge fortification wall along the entire border in record time – inspired by the French Maginot Line. The tragic thing about these bunkers is that they never served their defensive purpose. Due to the Munich Agreement in September 1938, Czechoslovakia had to cede the Sudetenland to the German Reich without a fight.

The viewing pavilion of Bohemian Switzerland. A wonderful and spectacular view. The path is a bit strenuous - this should be taken into account. Unfortunately, also totally overcrowded, it is recommended to go early in the morning or in the evening!
