The monument stands near the city walls in a quiet place, away from street traffic. Marcin Kromer (1512-1589) - an outstanding scholar and diplomat of the Jagiellonian era, Bishop of Warmia and a great Pole. The community of Biecz Land honored him in 2012 on the 500th anniversary of his birth. (according to the inscription on the monument's pedestal). It may surprise someone that the Bishop of Warmia, who died in Lidzbark Warmiński and was buried in the cathedral in Frombork, has a monument at the opposite end of Poland - in Biecz. The explanation is simple - he was born in Biecz and felt connected to it, helping to rebuild the town hall tower, reforming the school, and funding scholarships for the youth of Biecz. Wooden churches always impress me. This one—apparently a typical Lemko church (they had good taste!)—dates back to the early 19th century and is an Orthodox church. It's not on the Main Beskid Trail itself, but almost there, so it's worth the detour.

The flourishing in the 14th and 15th centuries. Bishop of Warmiński Marcin Kromer, a humanist, historian, writer and diplomat, was born here; there was a school of executioners here. Worth seeing.

The section of the road towards Folusz driving from Dębowiec has an interesting phenomenon - when driving we have the impression of driving downhill! and in reality there is an uphill from 1.5% to 3% 😁
