Romantyczny Palace in Turzno

Highlight • Historical Site

The "Romantic" Palace in Turzno near Toruń - a manor house from the first half of the 19th century XIX century - currently a four-star hotel of the same name. A gate with statues of aurochs leads to the palace. Additional attractions include an English-style landscape park. from the 1st half of XIX century with two ponds and specimens of many exotic trees. At the back of the property there is a park with a pond and a charming chapel built at the end of the 18th century. The whole thing is really impressive, considering one more important fact:
In July 1827, on his way to Gdańsk, Fryderyk Chopin stopped here for a few days.
When I am nearby during my cycling trips, I can't resist the temptation not to look here again.

The gate standing in this place commemorates the state border. It was built in January 2020 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Golub by the Blue Army of General Haller (hence the name of 17 Stycznia Street). For years, the Drwęca was a border river, the crossing was located in this place. The Middle Ages was the border between the Kingdom of Poland and the state of the Teutonic Order. The time of partitions was the border between the Kingdom of Prussia (Golub) and the Russian Empire (Dobrzyń). Before WWII, both cities administratively belonged to different voivodeships, they merged in 1951 and the border of these voivodeships was of course the Drwęca. Today, the river separates two church dioceses - Golub and the local parish belong to the Toruń diocese, Dobrzyń to the Płock diocese.

Church in Gostków p.w. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is worth seeing because it is beautiful.
It was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th - brick, stone and brick (this is one of the oldest such temples in the area) and had a wooden tower. The brick tower was built in the neo-gothic style in 1925.
The most valuable monument located in the temple is the Madonna from Gostków - a Gothic wooden sculpture made in one of Toruń's workshops in 1420.
