It's best to go from the market square along the ulica Świętego Jana, sometimes quite steep :). The castle ruins have been renovated, admission is free

According to written sources, the castle in Lanckorona, also known as Lanckorona Castle, was built by Casimir the Great in the mid-14th century; it guarded the border between the Kraków region and the Duchy of Oświęcim, whose ruler John I Scholasticus paid homage to the Czech king John of Luxembourg in 1327.
