In the vicinity of Mierzwice, on May 20, 1944, a rocket fell and did not explode, from where it was secretly recovered from the Germans by local conspirators. The well-organized missile protection activities were attended by, inter alia, partisan unit of Maj. "Zenon" by Stefan Wyrzykowski. Then, in Operation Bridge III, the captured rocket was sent to London. The monument was unveiled in 1995 and its character refers directly to those events - a life-size copy of the V rocket sticks into the marshes of the Bug. There is an inscription on the monument "They saved London". Since May 2007, the local school has been named after the Heroes of Action V2.

In the central part of the square, a monument commemorating the interception and development of the German secret V2 weapon was placed, showing a gray-painted model of a missile (designed by Marek Ambroziewicz). The monument resembles one of the most spectacular underground actions in Podlasie. In the spring of 1944, the Germans began trials with a new weapon launched near Mielec. At the school in Sarnaki, a special unit was stationed to determine the site of the fall, assess the effects of the explosion and collect the remains of Wunderwaffe.

Kazimierz Maciej Zwierz, Topór coat of arms (died 1682). [7]
