Tadeusz Kahl Square is located in Powiśle, on the eastern side of Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie, between Tamka Street and the railway bridge. The square's patron is Tadeusz Kahl (1907–1982), an electrical engineer, professor at the Warsaw University of Technology and dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. He worked in various institutions related to energy, both before and after World War II. He was the co-creator of the modern electrical grid system and the lighting system of Warsaw, and the author of works on the optimization and reliability of power grids.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene is an Orthodox church in Warsaw, built in the second half of the 19th century for the Russian community and as an element of Byzantine-Russian architecture in the city. After Poland regained independence, it remained one of two undamaged Orthodox churches in the capital. Since 1921, it has had the status of a metropolitan cathedral and is the main church of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church. It also serves as the cathedral of the Warsaw-Bielsk diocese and the seat of the parish of St. Mary Magdalene. It was entered into the register of historical monuments on July 1, 1965.
