Modest Humiecki was born in 1842 and was the son of the parish priest of Rzepnik. After completing his medical studies, he settled in Krosno, where he ran a medical practice. He also wrote articles and professional books. He gained great recognition for his fight against the cholera epidemic that spread in the years 1872-73. He served as mayor of Krosno in the years 1883-87. His achievements included paving the main streets of Krosno, laying sidewalks, and generally improving sanitary conditions in the city. Modest was friends with Ignacy Łukasiewicz. As a man of almost 40, he married his pupil Walentyna Antoniewicz, who died at the age of 26 in 1883. They had only one child - Ivan (Jan). He was the owner of Rzepnik. He provided material assistance to the village and supported social initiatives. He stayed here only in the summer, in a house that served as a place of rest for the whole family. He was not very good at managing the farm. His professional and social work absorbed him completely, so a few years before his death he divided the land and sold it. He died in 1899 and was buried in the very center of the former cholera cemetery.
