ALOJZY BRUSKI was appointed commander of one of the largest Pomeranian partisan groups of the Home Army under the codenames "Bory", "Cisy-100", operating in the area of the Tuchola Forest and numbering about 150 men. He took over the actual command in April 1944 from Stefan Guss, alias Dan. He proved to be a gifted commander and tactician, conducting many military actions against the Germans. He cooperated with Soviet reconnaissance and sabotage groups dropped into Pomerania. In December 1944, he disbanded his unit for winter quarters, and hid in the area of Słone Jezior. By order of the Commander of the Armed Forces in the Country of 1 January 1945, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
