Arriving in downtown Końskie, you cannot ignore the statue of Tadeusz Kościuszko on his horse. Considered a national hero in Poland, he is also revered in Belarus, Lithuania and the United States. You are here in the oldest part of the city. Parks, gardens and churches are all around. This city had a large Jewish population. It was completely exterminated between 1939 and 1943.
