The Black Heart, an idyllic lake on the island of Usedom, is a somewhat hidden gem in the Korswandt forest. Surrounded by trees that make the water appear dark, this place is a wonderful retreat. Time seems to stand still here. Highly recommended.

Ahlbeck is the easternmost and largest of the three imperial seaside resorts on the island of Usedom and lies directly on the border with the Polish town of Świnoujście. It boasts a well-maintained promenade, green spaces, a wide Baltic Sea beach, and few new buildings that would detract from the resort's historical character.

On August 14, 1925, the border crossing near the Boll Bridge over the Torf Canal into Poland was impassable. The Polish border guards kindly pointed me to the crossing at Ahlbecker Straße, but I ignored it, as the long-distance cycle path parallel to the beach didn't require passport checks and was more pleasant to ride.

For this museum it is necessary to reserve at least 2 hours 😁

A journey into the past. 👍😁 It's definitely worth a visit, at least for those who still remember many of the exhibits from the past. We've rarely seen a museum where it was so "loud" – because people were discussing and laughing. The museum is definitely worth a visit!
