The Church of St. Paul in Tavira (Igreja de São Paulo) was built in 1606 and was part of a former convent of the Hermits of São Paulo. The exterior is simple, but inside you'll find religious art from the 16th to the 18th centuries, including a Baroque altarpiece of Our Lady of Carmo. The church is located near Praça Dr. António Padinha.

A very nice piece of cycle path through nature... and then... a beautiful new bridge... den... nothing more.. a meter deep nothing.. And you better not take the railway crossing just before the end, because then you have to cycle back to the previous roundabout on the four-lane road.

This building used to house the administrative and judicial headquarters, the men's and women's prison, the stables, the government house, the granary and a public market. Unfortunately, a fire in 1908 destroyed the building and it had to be rebuilt in a project that lasted more than four years. What we have today is the result of a remodeling carried out in 2009.
