The installation by the Madeiran sculptor Patricia Suarez consists of several thousand individual faces made of ceramic or plaster. The faces show portraits of locals and are intended to reflect the emotions, memories, and impressions of the local community. Amidst the faces are incorporated reflective cutouts in the shape of birds (silhouettes). When you stand in front of them, the mirror reflects the viewer and the surroundings, symbolically making you part of this collective community artwork.
