For some time now, I've been wondering if I should also go on a pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago? To find out, I spontaneously put on my hiking boots on vacation and embark on a short journey. I start in Matosinhos, as the Camino Portugués de la Costa is near the accommodation. The actual starting point is in Porto. In Rua da Pena Ventosa, right next to the cathedral, you can get all the information, patches/shells, and the "collectible booklet" 😃 Shortly after the start, I'm already standing with my feet in the Atlantic and enjoying the sun on my skin. After just a few minutes, I see the "many" people who have also set out on this journey. I am enthusiastic about the many languages and the patches from different countries. It doesn't take long and I'm already in the first conversation - "I would like to swap backpacks with you. I'm not sure if I've packed too many things? My backpack is quite large." I'm happy, because I keep seeing the same people on the trail from time to time today. We recognize each other and give each other a brief smile. The path runs predominantly on a wooden boardwalk (there were short detours as repair work was carried out from time to time. The detours were not signposted) and you almost always have a great view of the Atlantic 🤩. By the way, shade is scarce and many of the toilets were closed 🙁. I didn't have a kiosk or supermarket on my way (There is a Lidl in Matosinhos). Today I was able to observe interesting people on their hike and wondered if I would see one or the other again if I were also on this journey? Many thanks, to Unknown! It was nice to walk a large part of the trail with you and I wish you lots of fun on your onward journey! After today, I go to bed with a positive feeling 💤 and look forward to another encounter with the Camino de Santiago.
