The legendary barbershop with the longest beard in Postojna has been revived with original equipment and a new story. The premises of the legendary pink house on the corner combine the concept of centuries-old tradition and legends of the Ozbič family with modern techniques of the barber and hairdresser profession. Janko Ozbič’s life has revolved around barber chairs and hairdressing techniques for more than seventy years. He had the art in his hands since the cradle and he has remembered the barbershop with which they supported themselves since childhood. At the age of 13, he took scissors in his hands and started working. He shaved and styled continuously until the age of 89, when he had to give up the business due to the changed legislation on this type of work. Today you can sit on Ozbič chairs and let yourself be pampered by master barber Luka Nebec and his team, or visit, in the back part of the salon, an exhibition about the art of barbers and hairdressers and the Ozbič family. Planina Polje, crossed by the river Unica, is one of the best known and most scenic karst poljes in Slovenia. The meadows along the meanders of the Unica tell a story not only about the area's numerous unusual natural features, but also about the life of the local people, who adapted to the river's rhythm of flooding.Unique natural environment and excellent fishing. Planina Polje has a unique geological structure. The river Unica, rising in the Planina Cave on the edge of the polje, first flows across a stretch of land impermeable to water, but then it suddenly disappears underground and only re-emerges on the surface near the town of Vrhnika, this time under the name of Ljubljanica. Planina Polje is the meeting point of several karst waterways, and its edge is full of karst springs, ponors and swallow holes. Some of the swallow holes have been walled and covered by iron grids to prevent clogging. The best known among them are the so called 'Putick's Wells' (Putickove štirne), unique pieces of technical heritage named after the famous karst explorer Viljem Putick. The river Unica, one of the best locations in Slovenia for fly fishing, is a popular destination for fishermen from around the world. It is inhabited by several fish species, the most common being the trout and the grayling.

sculpture of the brave shepherd boy Jakob and the Postojna Cave dragon. Sculpture in memory of the legend of the Dragon and Jakob who defeated it. Legend has it that once upon a time, a terrible dragon lived in Postojna Cave, which everyone was afraid of. The locals called for help from the enterprising shepherd boy Jakob, who tamed the dragon by bringing him a calfskin filled with lime as a meal. When the monster took a sip of water after lunch, it exploded. To thank Jakob for his courage, the locals erected a statue at the entrance to the village and sewed a bag from the remains of the dragon's skin, and since then the people of Postojna are (we are) known as "purse-takers".

Cave olms never grow up: they spend their entire lives in the larval stage. Researchers estimate that they can live to be 100 years old. The females are sexually mature at around 15 years of age and then reproduce about every twelve years. The cave olm can survive for up to 10 years without food. As the cave olm only lives in the absolute darkness of caves, it has no eyes and pigmentless, transparent and pale pink skin through which the blood vessels and organs are clearly visible.

If you have older students with you, like us, you still have the opportunity to enjoy the experience together. The paths are flat and non-slip. After the train ride, you will walk about 1.5 km. However, it must be mentioned that right at the beginning of the tour you have to overcome an incline of 20% over approx. 100 meters and then a 20% decline. After that it's relatively flat, maybe with a short up and down. If the incline/descent doesn't work anymore, you can stay on the train and get out again. You get some great impressions while driving. It was great for our grandpa experience and he was also very enthusiastic. We younger people were then able to continue the tour as normal without feeling guilty. So conclusion: there is an opportunity to experience the cave for all ages and health conditions. There are various restaurants in front of the cave to fill the waiting time.
