The Biergarten Schleuse 35 is idyllically located on the Alten Kanal and has outdoor seating. It is also recommended because it is only a few hundred meters from the Burgthann S-Bahn station. This means you can travel back and forth conveniently without a car.

The Ludwig Canal (Ludwig-Donau-Main-Kanal, also called Ludwigskanal or regionally "Alter Kanal") was a 172.4 km long waterway in the 19th and 20th centuries between the Danube near Kelheim and the Main near Bamberg. In a broader sense, the canal, built between 1836 and 1846, was part of a navigable connection between the North Sea near Rotterdam and the Black Sea near Constanța. By crossing the European main watershed, the ambitious construction project held a special position. 100 locks, partly in the rivers Altmühl and Regnitz, overcame a total difference in altitude of 264 meters (80 m ascent from the Danube and 184 m descent to the Main). The successor to the canal, which was abandoned in 1950, is the Main-Danube Canal, built from 1960 to 1992.

Definitely worth a visit during peak season (Easter to late summer). In the off-season, it offers many beautiful photo opportunities and memorable pictures.

The "Endless Trail" has been a classic for over 15 years. It's great that it's still so rideable and is constantly being expanded and improved. An absolute flow thrill in all seasons.

The bridge over the A9 near the Nuremberg-East interchange is a resource-efficient landmark with a contemporary design. Detailed calculations and an optimized assembly concept enabled the bridge to be built economically. Bernhard Hauke spoke with bridge engineer Daniel Schäfer. The client envisioned a bridge as a symbolic gateway to the Nuremberg region. How did this sculptural approach influence the bridge designs? The initial idea was to use an arch structure for the bridge, reminiscent of a gateway. As the requirements evolved, we determined that a self-tensioning arch was the best solution. At the same time, I wanted the bridge to demonstrate that bridge construction can combine symbolic power, modern design, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Therefore, we opted for a network arch and slender, clearly defined steel box sections. It was important to us that the bridge looked good from every angle. This also applies to the residents of Fischbach who regularly walk across the bridge. Source: https://ingd4c.org/blog/2021/06/30/IBK21-Interview-Netzwerkbogenbr%C3%BCcke.html
