Yes, yes... I know. This is the most efficient way to get 6,000 STP riders from Kalama to Portland. However, all the charming back roads we saw earlier in the Washington side of the ride are long gone and are now replaced by the shoulder of US Highway 30, a 55mph "stroad" that does not make for a pleasant ride. lots of loud vehicles, nasty drivers and junk to be avoided on the shoulder. It sure gives a bad impression of what Oregon looks like, and makes one happy to get onto the hill at St. Johns bridge.
