Ice Lake is a stunning, glacier carved lake near the summit of the Matterhorn and Sacajawea Peaks as well as the Hurwal Divide. An excellent base camp for exploring the nearby peaks or enjoying the geologic wonders of the Wallowas.

On your way up to Ice Lake, you can spot the rushing Adam Creek Falls. The falls are not accessible at this location, but you can get to Adam Creek a little further down.

This is one of the most popular trailheads into the Wallowa Mountains. You can start to hike along the West Fork Wallowa Trail or Chief Joseph Trail. Both connect with numerous trails in the wilderness. To hike here, you need to obtain a permit for the Eagle Cap Wilderness which is available at the information board at this trailhead. There is also parking available at the trailhead.

This hydroelectric power plant uses the force of the East Fork Wallowa River to produce electricity for the nearby towns of Joseph, Enterprise, Lostine, and Wallowa. It was constructed in 1921.
