Beautiful view of the Schwarzsee. Approach from Plaffeien almost to Schwarzsee via a beautiful hiking trail/trail path with roots and forks along the Sense. Ascent to the Schwyberg partly up to 26% gradient. On the standard Komoot map and satellite, paths are partly marked which do not exist. Use Swiss Topo map. On the Schwyberg, beautiful view of the Gantrisch area, the city of Fribourg and the 3 lakes of the Seeland region. From the large Schwyberg, a great bike trail/hiking trail to the Gurli restaurant. Above Plaffeien there are many trails. However, due to the lack of a path from below the Gurli restaurant, these were not found by us. Alternatively, the approach from Plaffeien or directly from the Alp Grosser Schwyberg instead of via Gurli might be possible.

La Berra, at 1,719 m, is one of the most beautiful vantage points in the Fribourg Pre-Alps. From the summit, the view extends over the Lake of Gruyère, the surrounding Jura heights, and on clear days, far into the Bernese and Vaud Alps. Several hiking trails lead up to it. A circular hike across the wide alpine pastures is particularly charming.

The 360-degree panorama From the summit, you can enjoy a gigantic panoramic view: To the north: The glittering Lake Geneva and the entire Mittelland region up to the Jura. To the south & east: The mighty peaks of the Mont Blanc massif and the Bernese Alps. 🍴 Gastronomy & Observatory Summit restaurant: The modern restaurant Le Sommet is located directly next to the mountain station. It offers a large sun terrace and local specialities (such as real Gruyère fondue). 🚡 Ways to the summit The comfortable option (train): From Moléson-Village with the funicular to Plan-Francey, then change to the large cable car, which takes you directly to the summit. The sporty option (hiking trails): Via the west flank: A beautiful, classic mountain hiking trail from Plan-Francey (approx. 1 hour 45 minutes, T2). Via ridge paths: Those who ascend via the via ferratas (Le Pilier or La Face) reach the main summit after exiting via a magnificent, secured ridge path in approx. 20 minutes.

Unfortunately, the summit climb was difficult at the end of May due to the snow-covered Kaiseregg Pass. In spring, with persistent snow, it's only recommended for experienced and/or well-equipped hikers. Crampons and poles were a must for me!
