There is a big gravel lot at the trailhead and access to a network of dirt trails that wind their way up into the hills. Rinconada Mercury Mine is just west of the trailhead. The ruins have been heavily graffitied with brightly colored art and the mine opens up to a huge cave in the ground.

This lake is popular with shaded areas for picnics and a 1 mile loop around the edge of the water. A great spot to take a break or cycle along the waters edge. Please be courteous of other path users around the lake.

Joyful ride through the wide and flat Huer Huero Creek valley. No traffic on a smooth county road. Try to come during wildflower season in spring.

A super cool old cowboy saloon that is cycling friendly with outdoor seating, great food, full bar, and fun vibe.

Upper Huer Huero Creek forms a lush valley in spring, but the cacti give a sense of how dry the area looks like in summer and for two thirds of the year.

When you come by his horse ranch you first notice the replica mini wild west town and saloon, with the sun-bleached name of Monte Mills' band. Monte Mills is best known as a yodeling singing cowboy in The Western United States - still doing some 50 shows per year. But he's also known around these parts as one of the best Farriers in the region. Monte's been a cowboy for as long as anyone can remember taking care of horses throughout the California Central Coast. Monte delivers the highest standard in quality and care to his horseshoeing business, and occasionally a yodel or two to make the horses smile. http://www.montemills.com
