You are treated to stunning views of the bay from the museum and its outdoor sculpture garden. The museum costs $3 to enter (free for kids 17 and under) and has an impressive array of animal exhibits, including seal skeletons and even a massive near-complete whale skeleton.

Pismo Beach is located south of San Luis Obispo. It stretches over 360 meters and is very popular with surfers. The immense wooden pontoon and the sign in large red letters are its distinctive feature. The beach is very popular and often crowded. Further south, you will find deserted stretches of beach, and others which are accessible to motorized vehicles and which I do not recommend. You will also find an absolutely incredible monarch butterfly sanctuary there.
