The St. John's Church in Dannenberg (Elbe) is the church of the Protestant St. John's Parish of Dannenberg in the Lüchow-Dannenberg parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Hanover. The Gothic hall church was built on the site of a previous building from the middle of the 12th century dates back to around 1385. In 1569 a princely crypt was added. Around 1600 an extension was added to the east of the church and the lower tower took on its current appearance. From 1605 until his death in 1653, Johannes Schultz was organist at St. Johannis Church. Fires and other destruction regularly required restoration. The last major catastrophe for church building was the collapse of the east choir in 1812, which had previously extended into Marschtorstrasse and was replaced by a straight end wall after it was destroyed. As part of the renovation of the church foundations in 1960, the 17th century galleries on both sides of the church were also removed. The 73 meter high church tower was re-covered in 1988/89. Since then it has been a nesting place for barn owls and kestrels. The tower clock, which dates back to 1895 (manufacturer: Weule in Bockenem in the Harz region), has had a renovated clockwork since 2006.

Very relaxed walk around the lake. Paved ground that is easy to drive on. The main thing is that the tour is worth it because of the beautiful view of the lake. Recommended!
