Looking toward the ocean, this park sits on the left, with public paid parking behind it and next to it, some of the closest beach parking you can get!

If you’re looking for an easy, relaxing walk with ocean views, Oceanside City Beach is a great spot. The nearby trail from Buccaneer Beach to Tyson Street Park is mostly flat and perfect for all fitness levels. Along the way, you’ll catch beautiful sea breezes, beach playgrounds, and plenty of space to stretch your legs. It’s especially nice early morning or late afternoon when it’s quieter, and the sun is not so strong.

Discover the history of Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park, a hidden gem in southeast Carlsbad that was once a Spanish-style rancho built by a Hollywood actor. Acquired by the city in 1977, the land was cared for by Friends of Carrillo Ranch, a nonprofit founded in 1990. Today, the park preserves its heritage with educational programs, historical restorations, and welcoming visitors. The buildings are beautifully restored and the foliage well maintained.
