A strip of nature runs right through Lunderskov. Around the mill pond lie moraine hills, moorland and meadow areas, with a spring in between, whose water is channelled via a carp pond and further fish ponds. The area has been under protection since 1972, explicitly to preserve the landscape and its recreational value.

After the hike, a stop at Café Drabæks Mølle, housed in the former mill in Lunderskov, is worthwhile. You are sitting here in a place with almost a thousand years of history. Milling has taken place at this spot since around 1100, it became a royal watermill in 1553, and the current building dates from the reconstruction in 1907. A couple from Lunderskov has lovingly revived the mill after years of vacancy and turned it into a café with a focus on good ingredients and a cozy atmosphere. Stursbøl Plantage is located on a ridge where there are only a few streams to cross. Therefore, the area has likely been used by travelers for thousands of years. The connection to early history becomes particularly clear in the total of 70 Bronze Age burial mounds, which border the various routes of the Ochsenweg.

In front of this beautiful building sits a strange and controversial sculpture: The Troll who smells the flesh of Christians. This Danish art museum specializes in symbolism and new art. Created in 1924, it houses, among others, the works of Niels Hansen Jacobsen, sculptor and ceramist of art nouveau, born in Vejen. The troll sculpture is one of his many creations.

This course has completely changed. Many trees have been felled and thinned out, my favorite ramp stands as a pillar in the chaotic forest. I don't recommend this course at the moment, maybe a lot will change.
