Centuries ago, an important trade route led across the border between Bavaria and Bohemia. During the Cold War, this came to an end: The Iron Curtain sealed the border. Barbed wire, barriers, and border guards separated the two countries. Today, the border is open again, and the Ferdinandsthal crossing connects the Bavarian Forest with the Šumava National Park. You can easily cross the border here on foot, by bike, or on skis.

The farm "Christlgirgl" No. 65 with signs pointing to S and J was at an altitude of 1080 m. In older registers, the court was called "Brückl". The barn was separate and perpendicular to the main building. A smaller farmhouse above the courtyard opposite the residential building even disappeared over the original inhabitants. The court was called. House chapel (domestic chapel) of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, built in the corner of the farmyard on the way down from the bridge into the town or the afterlife. The chapel, which had been preserved, originally bore a small roof bell, which has not been preserved, but the double-armed cross is still on the mountain ridge. On the left side, at the entrance to the chapel, there is a memorial cross. The property also included houses No. 63 and Wagnerhausl, located about 500 m from the farm JJZ, which at some point before R. 1885. In the eighteenth, nineteenth and until the beginning of the twentieth century, the original freedom of the Denk family managed it here over several generations. Known representatives of the family were Michael Denk (wife Anna Maria Hilgarth), Johann Georg sr.*1783 - 1833 (wife Barbara Stöhr from the next Paseka), Johann Georg jr.*1804 (wife Anna Maria Thumbs from Paseka) and after him Franz Denk. Probably they were the farmer J. G. Denk sr. or his son, who according to information had built the chapel near his farm in a reduced copy of the oldest chapel in Hauswald near Srní. Thanks to them, we know the form of the original Hauswald chapel (see the contemporary picture). In R. 1914 Christligrgl was bought by Peter and Anna Hilgarth, who After nine years, the court was sold to Friedrich Pelikan, who was to be taken over by the Czechoslovak state after the land reform, but before World War II, but the intended occupation was abolished. The building ceased to exist in the 1950s.
