September 8, 2026, Boisé de la Crête Trailhead

The Boisé de la Crête Trailhead is on Rue Principale with a notable white and blue sign that reads “Boisé de la Crête de Saint-Dominique”. The parking lot is a well-maintained large gravel lot and on its south-east side there is a lawn with trees creating shade and picnic tables.

Boisé de la Crête Trail is part of a trail network that is broken into four colour-coded trails in the Boisé de la Crête de Saint-Dominique. The flat paths are made up of packed dirt and gravel with strict seasonal rules. In the summer and fall, the trails are open to hikers, mountain bikers, and leashed dogs. In winter, the Sentier Lapointe (Yellow Trail) is groomed and reserved for cross-country skiing. Walkers, snowshoers, and dogs can use the Sentier Vanier (White Trail) and Sentier Sylvestre (Red Trail). In November, the entire park closes to the public for roughly two weeks in the middle of the month due to the regional rifle hunting season on nearby properties.

Built in 1967 after a severe drought, the reservoir serves as a backup water supply for the city of Granby. La Granbyenne trail passes between the reservoir and the nearby North Yamaska River, creating a beautiful waterside stretch with open views across the water as you continue around Lac Boivin.

This boardwalk viewpoint along Lac Boivin offers open views across the lake and surrounding wetlands. A few benches make it a nice place to sit and take in the scenery, with good chances of spotting birds and other wildlife on the water.
