Luigi D'Imperio
August 18, 2026, Wooden Bridge Over the Lake

This wooden footbridge crosses the narrow Smalsundet, linking the trails on either side of Rossevannet. Originally built as a temporary crossing during the construction of the new E39, it proved so popular with local hikers that it was kept as a permanent part of the trail network. Pause in the middle to enjoy peaceful views across the lake.

Built between 1916 and 1917 as part of Norway's neutrality defences during the First World War, Rossevann Fortification preserves a network of military positions hidden among the forest. Today, visitors can explore the remains while enjoying panoramic views over Rossevann and the surrounding landscape. A picnic area a short walk from the fort provides a pleasant spot to take a break before continuing along the trail.
