Rum Pond is a pretty, freshwater pond with great views of Mount Katahdin near Greenville, Maine, with a small camping area on its northeastern shore. It is a popular hiking trail, but you can also complete the challenging, technical, Blue Ridge traverse from here by bombing up the steep namesake ridge to the intersection with Rum Brook trail and Cranberry Pond. If the traverse is too much, there is also a great, shorter, better-maintained loop you can do by turning onto the Rum Brook Trail and taking it back down to the trailhead.

Dwelley Pond Trail is the only trail in Baxter State Park where bikes are allowed. Although this trail does not have awe-inspiring views, it's a fantastic trail to enjoy the foliage change in the fall and is a nice place to take a break from hiking or from biking on the park roads. The trail is a mix of single and doubletrack, which can be overgrown in some places. At Dwelley Pond there is a picnic area and small shelter, which is a great place to stop and eat a snack. It's nice to complete as a loop with Park Tote Road or as an out-and-back in the far northwestern corner of Baxter State Park.

This is a great trail with fantastic views of Moosehead Lake. The roots make this a good technical trail. There was a storm in 2023 and this little park lost over 800 trees, but the trail has since been cleaned up.
