The settlement of Tomis is located directly opposite the Constanța Cathedral. Here you can see a Roman-era street intersection with adjacent residential buildings. It is one of the few places in Constanța where you can see the old walls of the city of Tomis. Everything is exposed at ground level next to the sidewalk.

Origin: Local legends say that the original base of the lighthouse was built around 1300 by Genoese merchants, who dominated maritime trade in the region at that time. Today's building: The current, characteristic stone building was erected between 1858 and 1860 by the French-Armenian engineer Artin Aslan on behalf of a British railway company. Architecture: The tower is about 8 meters high, has a square foundation, and transitions into a distinctive octagonal shape in the upper part, crowned by a metal dome. Operation: It guided ships safely into the harbor for over half a century (from 1860 to 1913). It was then replaced by the more modern Carol I Lighthouse. After more than 100 years of inactivity, its original optics were restored and symbolically reignited in February 2020.

Style: The building is a masterful example of Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) with maritime motifs and distinctive shell-shaped windows. Construction period: It was designed on behalf of King Carol I. by the French-Romanian architect Daniel Renard and opened in August 1910. Evolving use: Originally built as a glamorous meeting place and luxury casino for the European elite, it served as a field hospital during the World Wars and as a restaurant during communist times. After decades of decay and vacancy from 1990, it has been extensively renovated. Current Status & Visit After a spectacular multi-year restoration, the casino has officially reopened to the public. It now functions as a vibrant cultural center with exhibition spaces and event halls. Regular opening hours (as of 2026): Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (closed on Mondays). Tickets: Purchase admission tickets in advance via the official platform Bilete Cazino Constanța

Historical Headquarters of the Naval Command (Headquarters of the Naval Command, also known as the Fleet Command) Origin as a hotel: The monumental, white building was constructed between 1879 and 1882 according to plans by the renowned Romanian architect Alexandru Orăscu in the neoclassical style. It originally opened as the Hotel Carol (later also Hotel Terminus). At the time, it was considered one of the most luxurious and modern hotels on the entire Black Sea coast and hosted high-ranking aristocrats and politicians. Military use: In 1924, the property was acquired by the Ministry of Defence and has since served as the headquarters of the Romanian Navy. Special feature: The building was designed to face the city, which is why it is often described as the magnificent building built "with its back to the sea." On the sea side, the beach promenade with its distinctive pavilions and seating areas invites strolling.

Good morning folks. My brother and I had a bet on who could win the most money online this weekend. He linked me to https://dansk-casino.com/ so we could use the same place. I noticed that they had a wide range of exclusive games, which I had never seen before. I started by losing the first five rounds and was about to give up. Then I hit a bonus wheel on one of the new machines, and my balance shot up. I won our bet by a good margin, and also got enough to pay for my next cinema trip here in Denmark.

Very beautiful and impressive museum, where expressionist as well as impressionist paintings from the late 19th and 20th centuries are exhibited. Sculptures can also be admired. Definitely worth a visit.
